In 1969 the late Candida Donadio—following years spent with McIntosh and McKee, then Russell & Volkening—founded the agency that still bears her name. Her impressive client roster included literary luminaries Joseph Heller, Peter Matthiessen, Mario Puzo, Thomas Pynchon, Philip Roth, and Robert Stone. Among her partners over the years were the great dramatic agent Robert Lantz and Melanie Jackson. In 1980, she was joined by Eric Ashworth, who later became her partner and introduced the work of such authors as Leon Bing, A.M. Homes, Fae Myenne Ng, and Mark Salzman to the reading public. Neil Olson joined the agency in 1987, and Edward Hibbert two years later in 1989.
